Uzbekistan Energy Minister, Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov, has unveiled negotiations with Gazprom, a prominent Russian energy giant. fFor medium to long-term gas supply contracts. This significant development came to light during the official visit of Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Russia, as confirmed in a broadcast by the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.
Russian Gas Deliveries Begin
Russian gas shipments commenced their journey to Uzbekistan on October 1. Marking a collaborative effort between Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kazakhstan’s Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. These gas supplies are being transported through the Central Asia – Center gas pipeline system.

Previous Gas Agreement
In June of this year, UzGasTrade JSC and Gazprom Export LLC inked a two-year gas purchase and sale agreement. The deal, signed by Mirzamakhmudov and Gazprom Chairman Alexei Miller, guarantees a daily gas supply of 9 million cubic meters (mcm), equivalent to nearly 2.8 billion cubic meters (bcm) annually, starting from Q4 2023.
These negotiations mark a crucial step in securing Uzbekistan’s energy needs. Thus, ensuring a reliable source of gas supply for the nation’s medium to long-term energy requirements.
