In an overnight drone assault, Russia strikes Ukrainian. They targeted the Kremenchuk oil refinery situated in Ukraine’s central Poltava region, causing a significant fire, as revealed by Governor Dmytro Lunin on Wednesday.
Refinery Operations Halted
Governor Lunin, delivering updates via the Telegram messaging app, confirmed the temporary halt of refinery operations due to the attack. Fortunately, at this point, there are no reported casualties.
Lunin commended Ukraine’s air defense system for its effective response, stating, “Last night, Russians repeatedly attacked Poltava region. Our air defense system did a good job against enemy UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles).”
Recurring Russia Strikes Ukrainian Attacks
It is worth noting that this is not the first time the Kremenchuk oil refinery has come under attack by Russia. The refinery has faced repeated assaults since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last year.
Ukraine’s air defense systems managed to intercept 17 out of the 24 drones launched by Russia during the overnight attack, as confirmed by the military.
