Who Are the Bitstamp Founders?

Bitstamp was founded in Kranj, Slovenia, in August 2011, by Damian Merlak and Nejc Kodrič. In 2018, NXMH, a Brussels-based holding company, acquired 80% of companies shares, bringing substantial assets and expertise to our team.

  • Damian Merlak graduated in Computer and Information Science from the University of Ljubljana. Moreover, he served as CTO until 2015 and as director until 2018.
  • Nejc Kodrič holds degrees in Economics and Information Science from the University of Kranj. Before co-founding Bitstamp, he is known for his work in computer hardware and IT consulting.

Bitstamp is led by a dedicated team of 7 compliance-driven professionals with extensive backgrounds in both traditional and decentralized finance.

How Much Is the Fees?

Our fees follow a maker-taker model, based on 30-day trading volume. We believe in making crypto accessible, offering fee-free trading on the first $1,000 in 30-day trading volume. As your volume increases, your fees decrease. Thus, for fiat/stablecoin trades, enjoy 80% lower fees compared to other crypto pairs.

Is It Possible To Use Leverage or Margin Trading on Bitstamp?

Currently, Bitstamp does not offer leverage or margin trading. We prioritize safety and transparency for our users.
